Thursday Jan. 9th, 2025. Woke up to the sound of President Jimmy Carter's memorial service at the National Cathedral in Washington DC on NPR. Decided to ride my bike down to Habitat for Humanity's memorial vigil in San Jose.
Monday Nov. 4th, 2024. Sad to report the USA's national debt is now above $35.9 Trillion. Some of us remember when it was a small fraction of that number. In other news, I'm happy to report that my power bill has fallen again. This time one reason is that Jenn and I installed a more efficient light fixture in the bathroom. The other thing that might have contributed was that fan in my PC died. For sure I notice the quiet of it not humming now.
Friday Oct. 25th, 2024. Went to a fundraiser for Jill Stein at the Hilton. It was much nicer than I was expecting. I saw religious leader after religious leader explain "A problem with voting for the lesser evil is you get evil. As Muslim-Americans we are taking a strong stand against genocide by supporting Jill Stein and the Green Party in this election." One was strategic enough about it to point out that here in California the Republican is a non-factor, so everything we can do to give Jill Stein a bigger platform with votes will only add credibility to the message. When she took the stage herself she made all the noises that made it clear her campaign is about saying no to genocide along with all the other things she had to say in every stump speech. It was an awesome evening. I'm now excited about voting for Jill Stein!
Late afternoon May 7th, 2025: Just got home from taking my broken computer over to Cameron and Susan's. Cameron fixed the computer with parts from his warehouse. All of the fossil fuels involved with the repair were consumed in previous years. Partly because my computer is the same generation as his spare parts supply, but also because I rode the bike the whole way both directions towing the trailer. So proud of that!
