Of all the people that dropped by, Lish had the Ishiest name. Here she is with the guy that said ISH! the most times, the TransDimensionalMystic.

Cheryl did the food for many of our meals. She also enjoyed Burning Man as much as anybody. As a thank you for all the care, I gave her a piece of Navajo jewlery at the end of the trip.

The blonde is Nathans new mail order bride from Russia. Here english is still not good, so she was totally surprised to find out they were stuck in the middle of a desert with a bunch of loony Americans. She got over it ok, and managed to smile more as her time there progressed. I never managed to take a picture of Nathan, or maybe that was one of the ones that playa dust erased before I got it home. Last year Nathan was looking for a new wife, and now he has one.

Joel made sure everybody kept their bowels moving. He also brought his new wife (or girlfriend). It's easy to see that woman is doing good things to his life.

Laura was only with us for a day or so. During that time she kept me out dancing until I couldn't do it any more and was generally very nice to have around the campsite. She also put us up at her home in Fernley, Nevada on the way home, a huge improvement over staying in a motel. It was interesting to hear how she connected with the ISH crew. She has known the TDM and MrLiver longer than I have.

That's me, Tian. Every day before I headed out to hit people with my little speech I would decorate my shirt with ten to twenty Camejo for Governor buttons, and restock the book in my pocket with at least twice as many MEND YOUR FUELISH WAYS stickers. By the time I returned to camp, I would be out of "film", meaning space in my camera's disk, stickers, and getting low on buttons. Many times people gave me necklaces or beads in exchange, and by the end of the week I had quite a few more things like those shown here to dangle around my neck.

This picture of Einstein done in shadow was made by the woman whose shadow is to the left of the board she drilled the holes in that work as his picture. I wish now I had more of a picture of her, because the picture doesn't do her justice.

Christofear.

The fearless leader of Group W is Aaaaanders, but I didn't manage to get his picture. However, he had a tattoo parlor next to the Group W tent at Literal & Authority, and in the middle above is a picture of one of the Tattoos he did. He must really know somebody, because we had a great location this year.

Rolf is shown here taking down the signs he made for the corner of Literal and Authority, one of the more practical sculpture projects I saw.

Greg is a film maker from Oregon. He was working on a documentary about Burning Man, and he ended up at our campsite because he knew a friend of a friend of Aaaanderses (I think). Anyhow, he spent a lot of time getting footage and collecting stories. Those were fun to hear over supper. For example, he told us about a guy that had problems with heroin addictiom. The guy had gotten some help getting his life together by attending Burning Man last year, and his family had thought he was on the road to recovery. Then he had backslid, and they found him dead with a needle in his arm earlier in the summer. Probably an accidental overdose. His ashes had been made part of the Man, so starting when that burned he became part of the cosmos here. Aparently those press credentials helped him get some good stories. Sunday he tagged along while I did my thing for a while, collecting me doing it a time or two. I might possibly make it into his documentary...

Scary Sherry used to be romantically attached to one of the Group W guys. However, now that is over so she expects to be part of another camp next year. She is part of the Department of Mutant Vehicles, the people in charge of licensing Art Cars for the Playa. I heard her say over dinner that next year they are going to try to issue a lot less permits for those things. People are feeling like too much fossil fuel is being used to power them on the playa.

In this picture are MrLiver (seated next to Cheryl) and TheTugboatCaptain (tie dye shirt next to Scary Sherry) whom I have no other pictures of. The tugboat captain had an art car that ran on solar pannels, which doubled as a shade structure. Unfortunately, I didn't make a point of taking pictures of that at an early date, so I missed my opportunity. However, I did get pictures of the stickers on the guys van, which are fascinating. Click his picture to see them.

HippoMan and his hippo. This was one of the first pictures I took after unpacking my camera.
