The boy on his left
arm is Justice, his oldest daughter's first kid. The other one is Eva,
whom they recently adopted. Monica said she is their last one. Now that
her first kids are married, it's time to stop having more, even though
she loves raising them.
Once I got inside the church I was
asked to sit with the other members of the bride's family in the left
side pews (as you look at the alter, shown above the grooms family
below). The duet on guitar and harp were playing relaxing and
interesting instrumentals. I did a quick tour to find out that the
women were getting organized for the service in the basement of the
church.
By the time the service started there
were quite a few people there. Most of them were new faces to me.
I'd been told ahead of time that no
pictures were to be taken during the service, so after I saw the bride
coming I sat down to witness the service and sing along like everybody
else. It was a classic Episcopal service, right out of their red book
of common prayer. When the minster said they were married I'd seen
Teresa Vaughn become Mrs. Shane Ayers.
Not long after the service was over I
found out that photographers were wanted for the wedding party
pictures. Click below to see the best of the ones I took.
The reception officially started when
the bride and groom arrived at the old school where it was held in the
assembly room.
The food wasn't ready yet, so there was
considerable time to talk to people on the available drinks,
watermellon and other fruit. Teresa was radiant, and it was a pleasure
to photograph her.
This the the only picture I can think
of that has all of Teresa's Uncles in it. We just don't get together
often.
Finally the food arrived and the
preacher did a nice blessing. Then it was time to eat!
After a while the Best Man got up and
offered a toast to Shane, telling a story about how caring the guy is.
Then the Maid of Honor did the same kind of thing for Teresa.
Amy is super into grass roots music.
She gave Katie a harmonica.
I never did find out who caught the
bouquet.
I had nothing to do with the decorating
of the car.
