My favorite quote from Bush's
inaugural address went "When the Declaration of Independence was first
read
in public and the Liberty Bell was sounded in celebration, a witness
said,
'It rang as if it meant something.' In our time it means something
still.", but I enjoyed the "minor technical difficulty" that caused
Peter Jennings to cut short his live interview with the correspondent
in Iraq right after that much more.
In my world, 'something still' is a piece of furniture I haven't
touched lately.

Saturday was a busy day in my
world. The official big news was that
Ross
Mirkarimi became the second Green elected to the San Francisco Board of
Supervisors. Meanwhile in Mountain View, the Raging Grannies were
investigating the FBI.

January 5, 2005. The 109th
Congressional session has just started, but
they haven't yet decided who will be inaugurated on January 20th. We
gathered at Anna Eshoo's office to ask her to consider her vote
carefully.
