Grannie Carol V. sent me the picture on the right. Attached was a note that said:

[The picture] shows the hat [Grannie Ruth] wore today, donated by yours truly to the Raging Grannies in honor of a more ornamental age of headgear. I inherited it from my dear mother (a great-granny before she died at 90), who I believe wore it in Wisconsin in the early 50s when ladies still aspired to grace and loveliness.  Ruth wore it with panache at the tea party today where the "FBI" mentioned in the photo was investigated by various of those present with all due and sedate thoroughness.
