Glen Allen brought Reston to mind in so
many ways. One way the place reminded me of Reston was the lack of
sidewalks on many of the streets. Another way was that there were lots
of nice looking homes separated from each other by polite lawns. Then
there were the obvious things like the warm humid air.
The pretty landscaping that seems to
attract young families. You have to look close to realize that the
sidewalk just ends in the middle of nowhere. I bet most of the people
driving by are clueless in suburbia about that. They don't even notice
it.
The pleasant surprise was finding a
nature trail at the end of the road. Reston had those to.
In San Francisco that Christmas tree
would have been burned by the friends of the rootless forest at their
New Years Eve bonfire on Baker Beach. Here it just seems like an
inconvenient fact.
As I walked along I could hear the
sound of a Cat grading a lot so developers could put up more housing.
That was another thing that reminded me of Reston.
I shot a frog!
I bet some kid stole that street
fixture from a construction site and the dropped it here when he got
tired of carrying it.
