In the fall of '95 I vividly remember standing in a bookstore in Tysons Corner reading a speech that was attributed to Red Jacket, a Native American I'd not heard of before at the time. This excerpt from Shane's literature text book said more about the guy then I'd seen anywhere else. Red Jackets words here are different from what I remembered, but there are a lot of similar ideas expressed.







I seem to remember the Red Jacket thing I'd read in '95 ending with something like "we have a little test for you, and we shall see if your religion is as good as you claim it to be."

Before reading the stuff below, I'd only known of Tecumseh as a name favored by Southern Generals during the Civil War. Now I'm thinking maybe I learned something about where the name came from.
