People stand by huge aquarium.   Orange and white striped fish swims over brown rocks.

People walking with Amazon Rainforrest plants around them.   White aligator floats in still water.

Blue frog sits near green leaf on brown dirt.   Lobster and human face each other.

Penguins stand on rocks.   Penguin trys to swim through corner of tank.   Fish with Zebra strips swims in front of rocks.

You could tell that penguin really wanted to swim further. It was beautiful to watch him/her go across the tank in nothing flat. Then when s/he got to the corner, s/he kept stroking, as if wishing would make it a bigger world.

Scale model of an Oil Platform.   Fish swim through life size oil platform mock up.   Tian touches the fruit on a banana tree in Jackson Square.

The nameplate on that scale model tanker platform said it was in 1200 feet of water. That fish going by the full size version had to be about three feet long, a really huge one compared to most of the rest. That set of exibits included a plaque explaining how the platform and its supports were places where life could flourish. It was sponsored by a large number of big oil companies.

There were banana trees growing in Jackson Square. My sister looked at them and said "I've never seen a banana on the tree before." The next thing you know, she wanted to take a picture of me touching them.

Katie poses in front of a bright purple tree.   Group shot in Jackson Square.   Statue of Jackson in the middle of Jackson Square.

The text on the base of the statue reads "THE UNION MUST AND SHALL BE PRESERVED".

Three Black guys in red pose in an interesting position.   Joan of Arc marches in front of some banners.   Denise sits with a MEND YOUR FUELISH WAYS sticker.
Around Jackson square there are lots of places where fortune tellers linger. If you find yourself in that area, get Denise to read your palm. It will cost $20 to $40 (you decide), and you might learn something about the area talking to her. I did.
