Back in 2000, we
celebrated Thanksgiving in Florida. Back then, I was a beginning
photographer compared to what I am now. You can sort of see it in what
I photographed and what I left out. I didn't yet have enough of a
camera kit to really take many pictures. Nowadays I carry enough media
to take as many pictures as I want. Back then all I took with me was
the camera and a couple of floppies. Not shown are the many pictures
that just weren't good enough to bother looking at again.
In 2000 I hadn't yet
realized how incredibly energy wasting flying was, so that's how I got
there.
My sister told me I should title this series of pictures "Grace
abounding". Please think of them as that.
One reason these
pictures are clunky is that the camera I was using then didn't have the
resolution of the one I have now. Another is that I didn't know then a
lot of the things I've figured out since about taking good pictures.
Bryant, Lal, and I each did one group shot.
Then, as now, my
sister's family shows up in a car they drove from their home. Then they
lived in Virginia.
If I had done then
what I do now, I would have taken a screen shot of some of the live
coverage of the Presidential undecision that was all over cable.
Instead of a picture all I have is a memory of how incredible it was
that we still didn't know who the next President was going to be. I
would also have taken pictures of some of the tourist stuff we did. At
this point I don't remember what any of that was.
