Walking in the shade was MUCH more comfortable than walking in the sun. There was a lot of chanting going on, and people around me were talking constantly. I mainly just went with the flow and enjoyed sharing with the people around me.

I first talked to Gloria La Riva at Third Parties of the West, not long after the June Primary in 1994. She was running for some high political office as a Peace & Freedom Party Candidate. Some people do that kind of thing once and then crawl back into the woodwork. She is one of the people that has stayed active. I see her at some event at least a time or two every year. She had probably been active for a long time before that, it's just that I was new on the scene then. It was nice of her to stand with me for this picture.

When we reached the grove there was a line of cops across the road, preventing further progress.  We circled and chanted and talked and networked for some time. There were more interesting sights than I could get in pixels, but I got what I could.
