Santa Clara County Supervisor Ken Yeagar
is guy in the blue shirt. He lead off the spoken part of the
meeting with some welcoming words.
Sam T. Licardo is the City Council
Member whose district the party was held in. He also said some nice
welcoming words and then urged everybody with a job in his district to
move downtown, so they could have a sort commute like his ten block one.
Five Eyed Hand has a
smooth jazzy sound, perfect for making delicious free beer and food go
down well. People were having a great time.
Jerri-Ann took over as MC after the
band had played long enough to need a break. She introduced some of our
key sponsors. The guy in green works for WEBCOR, a builder in Palo Alto
that really believes in bicycling as part of the solution to our
problems. Rob works for Sports Basement, and he thinks that SVBC
is a great thing and he is honored to grow with us.
Then Jerri-Ann acknowledged the SVBC
board. After everybody had given them a good hand she turned her
attention to the staff. Corrinne "our rock star" and Shelly "the
tireless staff" both got strong applause.
Greg auctioned off some very nice
bikes. A Specialized, something else, a Jamis, and a Cannondale. The
bidding got more enthusiastic as the auction progressed.
Rod Dirdon Sr. invited us all to come
to the Commonwealth Club thing on bicycling on June 9th. Watch the
SVBC website for more
information
This is what I saw in
the bike enclosure outside the bar. I didn't even know the patio could
hold that many people. There was always at least a couple of volunteers
watching things to keep everybody's bike safe.
