John was inspired by news that Cindy Shehan was marching on the Capitol in Washington DC that day to organize a march on Zoe Lofgren's office. He got PagesInColor.com to sponsor orange T-Shirts for everybody that showed up in honor of the Orange Revolution. There wasn't much notice on the thing, and there was also a lot of other stuff going on, so it wasn't a big crowd. We posed for a group shot and then got to talking.

The conversation went from this to that. Betsy showed up with news that Cindy Shehan had just been arrested in John Conyers office. She had been there because he is the head of the Judiciary Committee, the people who are in charge of impeachment resolutions. Doug said that earlier in the day half a dozen other activists had marched on Mike Honda's Office. We all looked spiffy in our bright orange shirts. Lots of cars honked at us as they drove by.

At some point I got to telling people Bush jokes I'd heard along the way. One time a political science professor type had asked me "Why did George Bush waste New Orleans?" I'd shrugged my shoulders and looked inquisitive. He'd continued "Because he'd been wasted in New Orleans forty years previously." Maybe that one got one or two snickers.  Another time in San Francisco I'd been asked "What do you call the Clinton Presidency?" My guess had been something along the lines of "history". The real answer was "Sex between two Bushes." Then I realized we were near the corner of First and George Streets.

I realized that in fact I was looking at George, bush, and Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren. I started wondering if she had picked that office location deliberately. Cameron was of the opinion she's too dumb to do something like that. I remain unconvinced.

After the demonstration was over I saw this bank, just a little ways up 1st Street. I'm still wondering, is that "The" State Bank of India or "a" State Bank of India? Either way, they to have neatly trimmed bushes.
