There was one globe the message of
which boiled down to "ball of confusion." If the ony one you saw was
that one you'd walk away with the impression that mice could do a good
job of figuring out the meaning of life.
I guess the
message
from this is that Americans would rather identify with .com then .us,
unlike most of the rest of the world. There were many globes with
fascinating information on them. One thing I noticed was that by far
the biggest country that had stayed out of wars since WW II was Brazil.
It would never have occurred to me
that
Wal-Mart has the kind of financial leverage found in Saudi Arabia, or
that BP is financially as big as southern Africa. It startled me a week
after Tony Blair and Arnold Schwarzenegger agreed to verbally work
together on the climate change issue when BP voluntarily decided to
shut down oil production in Alaska. I heard later on the business news
that the pain would be most felt by Californians. I see $3.33 gas
ahead...
