It was this year's San Jose Art Street Party. Maybe they called it ZeroOne, maybe they called it SubZero. Whatever. The point is they closed off South First Street and filled it with people having fun.

There were something like twenty people drawing pictures of the woman in a purple and white print dress. Didn't feel right about taking their pictures.

The body art really was the most visually captivating part of the event. There wasn't the awesome blending of digital technology with other stuff that I remember seeing at ZeroOne/SubZero in previous years.

It's interesting to me that the Korean food trucks I see aren't ever just "Korean food" the way the taco trucks are "Mexican food". They seem to always be Korean/(something else). In this case Korean/Chinese. My favorite is Mogo, which serves Korean/Mexican. They have great burritos. Didn't see them at ZeroOne.

This mime was playing with people, using the parasol to tickle them and stuff like that. Fun to watch for a brief period.

The Game of Hope was all about trying to go from "I can't live here any more" in Central America (square one) to a suburban existence in the USA. When I played I got deported on my first roll of the dice. I watched someone else get killed by a Coyote. I didn't watch that long, but none of the players I saw even got a job. It's tough to be illegal, even if it's just imagination! The artist said he was trying to get Americans to feel what it's like.

I'm wishing I'd asked why there were less stars on the flag than we'd think. Not sure if it had more or less stripes than you'd expect.

Somehow the time had melted away...
