Not so long after I got there somebody
organized a march on Santana Row.
I can only imagine how it felt to be
sitting there eating an expensive meal while a large crowd goes by
chanting things like "don't go shopping while bombs are dropping."
A number of times I
pointed to those bushes across the street and told someone else "I
think of those as harmless bushes, and I think it's a good thing to
have harmless bushes in your life." Somebody asked what I meant by
that, so I told him "soon enough the Bush Administration will be
history, and then the political implications of that joke will change."
