Tax day, the Republicans put on the best show in town. Plaza de Cesar Chavez in San Jose. There were at least hundreds of people there.

It seems like freezing the spending in Washington DC really would be a climate change there.

At the moment Edward M. Gonzalez is still the only candidate on the ballot opposing Zoe Lofgren. He was the only Libertarian with a table I saw at the event.

I was taking this picture of the truther signs and this couple wandered up. She asked something like "what's 911 about anyhow?"

I said "911 is what you call when you want government support right away." She snickered a bit but didn't say anything more. Her guy kicked one of the signs, more a gesture of contempt than anything else.

These guys are theater students at San Jose State, judging by what they said when I asked. After I took these pictures I kind of stood back a bit to see what other reactions to them were. One guy said "that's nicer than the liberals they sent last year."

The guy with the pie chart was trying to get people interested in California's state budget. He seemed like the only one.

The clown pleading with ralph before the porcelain god on that yellow shirt is vomiting a rainbow. It's the kind of thing that can only happen in cartoons.

The guy with the beard said he brought 40 lbs. of candy for the organizers to give out to whomever wanted some.

The woman who gave me the Dan Sahagun flyer explained that they are gathering the signatures to get him on the November ballot. He is running as a write in in the Republican Primary.

The guy with "IN ALL OF HISTORY" on his sign dismissed my belief in climate change with "You've drunk the Kool-aid on that."

The guy with the 10% sign said it was a reference to tithing. I think that means he is a Catholic or something like that.

The guy with the black and red cap explained that his son had bought him the red, white, and blue shirt because the guy knew he was a patriot.

By this time all that was left was a few gaggles of talking people and the cleanup crew.

The guy in the green revolutionary coat was from Vermont, which he refered to as "the green mountain state". Sounds like he is walking his talk on the environmental front MUCH better than most.
