I spent a lot of the
parade handing out fliers about the Green Party to people in the crowd.
Then things stopped, and I realized that the front of the parade (that
batch of people with signs calling for marriage rights) had reached the
reviewing stand, where the MC was reading a speech about the justness
of their cause. While that was going on I got the below picture of my
compatriots.
I didn't realize until later that there were a batch of Gay Activists,
three carloads of political incumbents, and then the Green Party!
Jim thought it was just random luck, but I thought we had gotten some
kind of huge promotion as a group. You decide...
Anyhow, after we reached the end of the route, I spent quite a while
watching the rest of the parade go by.
I think these are all different Latin American flags, carried by people
who care about them.
I remember when the Leather Association was lots of black leather with
whips and chains and lots of wildness.
They've toned it down A LOT. I'm wondering what happened...
After that the crowd followed the parade towards Discovery Meadow,
where there was a Gay Pride Festival.
I didn't want to spend $13 to attend a private festival, so I left at
that point. I spent the money at the farmers market instead.
