The carpool was running late, so Drew
took over driving. He zoomed on the freeway and managed to get us to
Downtown San Jose just before the deadline for taking out spot in line.
Once we had the Green Party banner unfurled, our group started to find
us. We were a block into the parade before the IMPEACH contingent found
us. It worked out quite well.
Lots of people enjoyed the fact that
George W. Bush was marching with us. After the marching was done I hung
around the end of the parade and took pictures of the groups that were
behind us. We were #22, and there was LOTS more.
I thing that "sleep with the right
people" float was organized by hotel workers that want people to stay
at hotels that recognize the rights of their gay employees.
Melanie got me to spend an evening with
her in Hunter's a month or so ago. It was very much a Gay Bar.
This was the best picture of our crew I
got. The guy in the green shirt on the right is Peter Myers, our
youngest Candidate for Congress. He is running against Mike Honda. It
was an honor to have a candidate in our contingent.
Walking away from the
event, I saw (sewer caps?) like this one every hundred feet or so on
First Street. They are much nicer than most that I have seen.
