San Jose's peace community decided to gather at Christmas in the Park and pass out fliers urging people to call their Congress Critters and voice opposition to the war in Iraq. The PPJC made special white "TROOPS HOME NOW!" shirts for the occasion, so we all wore them for the evening. I must report that they are MADE IN USA with an 88 union bug on the label.

It seemed like hundreds of organizations had put up christmas trees at the event. Everything from the Water Company to the Battered Womans Shelter had a tree. Many were well done, but these were my favorites.

There were these machines hanging on the light poles behind christmas ornament decorations. Every now and they they would start making a whirring noise and spitting out this spray of suds or something like that. The look of it falling was a lot like the effect of snow falling. I was tempted to yell out "artifical weather event!" It was almost as real as the rainstorms on the produce aisles at Safeway.

Little kids thought it was great.

There was considerable change in the composition of the group during the course of the evening.

After that I went to a great holiday party. I wasn't really there as a photographer, so I just took these pictures.

As luck would have it, I had a long wait for the bus after I left the party. To entertain myself while waiting I took pictures of parked cars. Late evening service is still not what I'd like it to be.
