This month's ride started in or near Cupertino, the great transit desert of western San Jose. It was ten miles from my home in a direction no bus wanted to go. Because of that I didn't do as many of the test rides as I usually do.
Turns out the "Killer Clowns!" theme was popular. Many people did something to honor it.
Katie was our fearless leader this month. The route got developed through a good and inclusive process that made the final product a lot better than what we started with. She picked a theme that worked for many people. She did a really good job on her own look.
Yeah, these are people that I found who did something. Maybe I was mistaking bright colors for on theme, but at least they had a good sense of humor.
Ronnie was SJBP's honcho after Billy Cool disappeared suddenly. For a year he held it together while we woke up to the new reality.
I know, I added a picture of a car. But really, what else would a well accessorized killer clown ride?
Amazing how the sodium lights gave the golden girl an extra sheen.
To get a picture of them they said I had to be in it. I said okay.
There was a killer clown movie Jarek shone on the side of the shopping center. I looked at the screen and it was the gore and violence those movies are known for. Tried to ignore it. For a while I played frisbee with some friends. I'd brought a fascinating new to me high tech frisbee that blinged up my bike in a fun way. Played with that on the other side of the parking lot.
Randy also had a look where he wore a flatfaced mask that was an LED grid. He had it programmed with some cool spooky art, but my camera wasn't ready for that.
I was supposed to get to the corner of Stevens Creek and Tantau before bike party. Unfortunately the lead mass caught up with me somewhere on Parkmore or Morepark. Took this picture when we stopped for major cross traffic at a light. I kept up with them for a while, but eventually I fell behind. Got to my corner in plenty of time for lots of other people though.
Marcia joined me at the corner to add some circus juggling magic. I'd yell "Right on Stevens Creek!" or "Right turn bike party!" at every batch of riders that went by. She'd provoke crowd reaction. Worked out great. After that we rode together until our ways parted.
