From every side that
white PVC pipe contraption had something else to say about the world.
The guy was still putting it together when I took this picture. He said
he had made it himself, and that it boiled down to fit into a medium
sized duffel bag to carry home on BART. I didn't see another sign as
multifaceted.
After I met up with
Pat and her friends I decided it was time to sit down for a while. We
ended up eating in the cafeteria in the basement of the Public Library.
She got us to go down there by saying they had pea soup, and after a
day of peace marching I was ready to give peas a chance. Unfortunately
they were sold out of that, so I had a Ceaser Salad instead. Pats
friend dragged out this map (click here to see it)
to show us the awful punishment Lebanon had suffered already was. Then
we explored the library a bit, and found this statue outside a small
room crammed with books about the Filipino world on the third floor.
