There was a table with a guy pushing
copies of this book and handing out these stickers. He was saying he
was "a former military intelligence officer in the US Army." I would
say he felt like getting the word out is VERY IMPORTANT.
One of the last speakers was Ross
Mirkarimi, 5th District Supervisor. He talked about all the press he
had gotten for his proposal to lower the flag over San Francisco City
Hall to half mast for the day, in honor of all the fallen in Iraq. The
Board of Supervisors had unanimously voted for the initiative, but the
Mayor had declined to implement it "because he wanted to listen to the
President", who hadn't asked to do it. I'm told the story had even
reached the International press.
I got this bracelet from the ANSWER coalition booth. I'm waiting for
someone to ask me what time it is, so I can show them my bracelet and
say "time to stop the war."
By this time the battery in my camera was so dead that I'd have to let
it rest for at least ten to twenty minutes between shots to get any at
all. There was MUCH more I could have shown you, but my equipment
didn't have it to give.
Christina was a bright spot in the afternoon for sure. She remembered
talking to me at some other event, maybe the Michael Franti concert in
the Golden Gate Park a year or two ago.
