Most of the last decade, my big thrill for the year has been going to Burning Man. Unfortunately, the TransDimensionalMystic that used to organize those trips has been indisposed for the past couple of years. I still get the JRS, which is their email about upcoming events. I still think "I should go to Burning Man", but I need to hook up with a crew that's going and needs another team member. It just hasn't happened yet. Anyhow, the notice about Decompression '09, and I figured that was as close as I'm likely to get to going to Burning Man this year.

MrLiver organized a carpool to Decompression '09, and I joined in. I took some grapes to share. I'm not sure that was a good idea. It worked when I was talking to someone that wanted a snack, but carrying a plate of grapes was a hassle much more often.

Sandra is still the only one that has borrowed batteries from me and returned them this millennium.

MrLiver sends his head back in time.

His friends wait for him...

I talked to Staci several times during the course of the evening. She said she is from Wisconsin.

One minute they are laughing at the kid with the gun. The next they are dropping like flies...

The beat these people were dancing to was relentless. It was hard not to dance anywhere near there.

A lot of people responded to the giant microscope by looking up the barrel.

Once it got really dark the fire art came out. You could tell the party was really getting going.

Unfortunately, about then it was time to go. My ride south was leaving, and I didn't want to be marooned  in San Francisco.
