At the brunch before the rally, the Grannies were passing around this
article from the local news section of the Chronicle. It was about
their efforts to get teenagers to think about the consequences of
joining the military.
That evening I got the following email from Grannie Ruth:
HI Grans and Friends:
Here's the exact quote about the Ford gig in April 1 issue of the Palo
Alto Daily (it isn't online yet).. Many thanks to Larissa Keet,
publicist extraordinaire, for contacting the Daily. There will
likely be a photo in Saturday's Daily (April 2) so look for it!
Activists to Descend on Dealership

Community activists will converge on the Peinsula Ford dealership in
Palo Alto at noon today to protest Ford Motor Comany's dearth of fuel
efficient cars.
Peninsula Raging Grannies will stage a hybrid and electric car
procession.
The group also plans to display several antique Fords that spokewoman
Larissa Keet said get better gas mileage than some cars produced by the
company today.
In their trademark style, the Grannies hope to sing a protest message
to general manager Ron Fodrey.
The protesters want the company to invest in hybrid and electric car
technology and work to decrease American dependence on foreign oil.
"The bottom line is, we will continue to protest until dealerships such
as Peninsula Ford behave as the responsible community members the claim
to be," Women's International League for Peace and Freedom member Ruth
Robertson said in a statement released by the Grannies.
Thanks to everyone who participated today, including the Stanford
University Radical Cheerleaders, Vets for Peace, Green Party members,
and all the Peninsula Raging Grannies (a project of the Women's Intn'l
League for Peace and Freedom).
