If you had visited my door you would have seen just this note. The
party was in the clubhouse.
One of the
ground rules for getting the keys to the clubhouse is that you have to
promise to do nothing political. We didn't. However, I forgot to take a
picture of Brenda, so this is one from a set of pictures I never got
around to putting on my website. There was also NOTHING POLITICAL about
the pizza she brought. It's also just a coincidence that it was yummy.
People enjoyed
the ambiance. At some point somebody picked up that tabloid I left on the table
and started laughing out loud about what it had to say. Then it got
passed around, and lots of laughter ensued.
I asked everybody to blow up one balloon. Most did.
That yellow
stuff Andrea is pouring into a bowl was organic blond water melon. It
tasted a lot like the red stuff I'm used to, and had the same texture.
I forgot to ask Honey if it was green on the outside like the standard
supermarket ones are.
Samantha was the star of the show. She was cute, angelic, and she liked
having her picture taken.
They surprised me with a cake. Special thanks to Samantha for taking
these pictures. I had to cut the cake.
After a lot of
people had left, the six of us sat around and talked for a while. The
TDM talked about seeing John Geramendi earlier in the day on Rough And
Ready Island (near Stockton, in the Sacramento River Delta). The
Insurance Commissioner
had said that if global warming raises sea level just a foot or so, it
will make the water around the island (he pointed to it) too brackish
to drink. He said that would have huge consequences for millions of
Californians in the Bay Area that draw their drinking water from the
delta.
We spent the
last half hour or so I had the room cleaning up and carting everything
back to my place. When I got them home I hung the balloons in my living
room. I'm wondering how long they will last...
