Gerry mentioned that there was going
to be a protest in front of Google HQ. I showed up to check it
out.
People were frosted because Google
is giving money to a leading Republican from Oklahoma that doesn't
believe in climate change.
The reality is that the climate
situation is worse then we'd thought. One reason is that too much
time has been spent "sweeping it under the rug", another name for
climate denial.
There was someone waving a sign on
every corner of the intersection that got much traffic.
The cars headed for Googles front
entrance had to pass a guntlet of sign waving activists.
The pedestrians were all handed
copies of this press release:
Have you seen that picture on the
internet of a fresh water lake at the north pole? It's a symptom
that the red line is a much more serious problem than is easy to
explain.
Despite that, our talking heads
did their best to explain the matter to reporters.
Darth Vader was saying "do more of
that!" I really hope they don't want to listen!
We posed for a group shot before
marching down to Googles front entrance to deliver a petition
with 50,000 signatures on it asking Google to stop funding evil.
When we got there Security
announced that Google would only allow one of us to go up to the
front desk. The guy that was leading the charge volunteered.
When he came back he explained
that the people at the front desk said that the only
communication Google was willing to accept was a business plan
detailing what we wanted to do and why Google should get
involved with that. He wasn't sure, but he figured they would
look into doing that.
A week later I heard about
this
letter to Google (click here) from its science advisory board.
