I told Micah that he is already a
better artist than I ever got to be when I was drawing. I pulled down
my sketchbook
from those days to show you some of the stuff I came up with then.
Musicians are great
people to draw. Unlike most of us they are
untroubled by being stared at by an artist. They like being on
stage. I only had one or two events to draw musicians at. Maybe I
would have kept with it if I'd had willing subjects for a whole evening
once a week. Finding models was never easy for me.
One time in '85 I was hanging out with
this woman and we drew each
other. I barely remember her, so it can't have worked out that out that
well. I think that was the last time I put much effort into drawing a
picture.
