The public celebrating started late in the afternoon. When I got to City Hall Plaza Hard Drive was already playing Rock and Roll. The crowd hadn't really jelled yet, and besides there was no food or drink for sale there. I went to uWink, where another Inaugural Bash was going just fine, this one with food and drink.

The TVs were following the inaugural thing, so we to got visited by Obama. The guy mainly said "thank you" for making it all possible from what I remember. At one point the Raging Grannies got up and sang this song for us:

Unfortunately, at the time I was playing this video game with Jeanne. Sorry Grannie Ruth. Not too long after that I went back out to schmooze on City Hall Plaza again. After a while the band seemed kind of loud so I went down to St. Stevens Green to hang out with Code Pink, who were celebrating "The End of an Error". Unfortunately that one was mostly over by the time I showed up.

By this time the crowd was decent. It wasn't packed the way it is for summer evening concerts when there are food, drink, and bathrooms supplied, but for a cold evening with just free music and internet/grassroots publicity the turnout was spectacular. At least several hundred community members were there. I knew at least dozens of them.

Laura brought Bush to the party. She also brought post its and markers. People were adding comments all evening. Click the above picture if you want to see what everybody who wrote had to say to the guy.
