The unusual thing about Ralph Nader is that he took "effective political action" all the way from fixing car design to fixing company design. I saw him speak at a direct democracy symposium, and it was clear he understood everything from the vote counting to the institutional framework democracy flourishes in.

So much of the book starts with "I'm a good citizen looking for ways to do more constructively." One of the points Nader reiterates over and over is "There can be no daily democracy without daily citizenship." I found this fascinating because that was a theme of his Presidential campaign in 2000. I still have an except from one of those stickers on the front fork of my bicycle.
