At first I thought it would be easy to find out how many votes Butch Ware got. Just look it up on the web! This shows he got more votes in Santa Clara County (587 so far) than a lot of other candidates.

I looked at the California Secretary of State's website. No mention of Butch Ware. Hunted around to some other Counties to see what they said.

[Alameda County] Cracks me up that Butch Ware got more people to write him in than Barak Obama got votes with his (I think) name on the ballot.

[San Mateo County] The patterns are somewhat similar in many counties. There is broad agreement on who was most famous, with regional differences expressed to a much greater extent in the lower ranges of the list.

Sacrmaneto broke out the write in votes separately at the bottom of the list.

Butch did quite a bit worse in San Diego. 304 votes so far. I think that means their Green Party isn't very active at the moment.

Adding up just the votes documented above Butch has 2,828 votes counted so far.

In this excerpt from the Secretary of State's webpage about the election there are three candidates shown with less votes statewide than Butch Ware got above. He should be on that list!
