Apparently Katie had seen someone
drumming, and had decided to make herself a drum kit and try out the
role.
The next day Grace took me on a tour of
the farm. There are more horses than before, but Daisy is still the
best horse.
The cows are a lot bigger than I
remember them being last time I visited.
The old chicken shed is now Katie's playhouse.
The goats are still in the same pen,
and still a big stop on the tour. Right now there is one in milk
production. Dean (milking her) agreed to take care of the farm while
the family was away at Teresa's wedding.
Animal predators aren't much of a
problem for the chickens any more. The cage is doing a good job of
keeping them out.
Ants are the big problem now.
Apparently they steal eggs (meaning empty the shells) and kill baby
chickens stuff like that. My sister is looking for a good way to get
rid of them.
They still have a death row for the roosters that are waiting to be
eaten. They still move it around every now and then so that the soil
amendments don't get to be too much in any one spot.
The rabbit hutches are retired for the
moment, just sitting out of the way.
It looks like they are much more of a BBQ family than I remember them
being.
Sandy is as friendly as ever. One of
the things she does inside is get down a blanket when she wants to sit
on it. Before my sister realized who was doing it, her daughters got in
trouble for leaving blankets scattered around. I gather they professed
innocence and blamed the dog. Tonia didn't believe them until she
caught Sandy red snouted (in the act).
