Seems like most years I get an
opportunity to do Octoberfest in Marin County's Fairfax. This year
the group I went with was Sheldon, Katie, Lloyd, and Townie
Bill. We met up on the train and then rode to the Ferry
Building at the end of Market St. to see if anyone else wanted to
join the ride there.
Townie was the organizer. He said
we'd be there at 10 AM and we were very close to on time. Didn't
have any more join us though. Didn't matter, it was all about
having a nice ride through interesting countryside.
We stopped a few times to take
pictures. Those skys talked a good game, but I only remember
feeling about four raindrops. It wasn't enough percipitation to do
anything more than scare off the weather wooses.
The event we rode to was all about
trying interesting beers and acting friendly in a plaza that was
just a little too small to really keep your distance from other
people. Seems like every good brewer in Northern California was
pouring liberal samples. For some reason I focussed more on
enjoying the moment than taking pictures. Had a great afternoon
and don't remember much more than that.
It was pretty late by the time we
got back to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Fifty miles of pedaling, half of it
after enjoying lots of beer in the hot sun. That's after doing
SJBP on Friday, which was a long night. We were lagging on the
train south.
