For Wednesday at noon, this was a big
crowd at Zoe's office. Many of the cars going by honked, so the people
in the office had to know we were there.
The San Jose Peace Center had been
collecting signatures on their "stop funding the war" petition for
weeks. Smriti had a large stack of signatures to give the
Congresswoman, and the event was mostly about adding an exclimation
point to that gesture.
Just after the time you could
reasonably expect the staff to be back from lunch, we all marched in to
go knock on the door. Smriti went in by herself to invite the
Congresswoman's local representative to come out and talk with us.
This is about what she saw a minute or
so after I took this picture.
The staffer was gracious and
professional. She thanked us for our work and promised that the
Congresswoman would see our petitions.
