Diane Solomon told me about this great exhibit on bicycle history in a gallery off the lobby of the hotel in History San Jose park. I finally got around to seeing it. Lots of San Jose bicycling history crammed into those displays!

There was quite a bit of other stuff that I just didn't take pictures of. Too dark, too small, and I didn't have space in my camera. Go see the exhibit if you're interested!

There was a movie DVD playing, rolling through a sequence of exciting bicycle races that had happened at the Hellyer Velodrome. Lots of years of competitive cycling culture in San Jose! Some of it had surprisingly advanced equipment.

I think this recumbent went coast to coast in the summer of 1976 or something like that.

There was another monitor cycling through SVBC accomplishments. One of them was being there to support bicyclists with bike parking at a lot of events. Another was lots of bike lanes. They also mentioned safety bike safety classes for kids.

Back in the '80s I knew a guy that remembered being in classes at San Jose State with the guy behind the Giro helmets. He sounded like one of those guys that decided what he wanted to do and then found a way to make it happen.

There was more, but the security guard came around and told me it was closing time. I took the hint and left.
