Vi called me up and said Obama was coming to San Francisco for a fundraiser that evening. There was sure to be lots of good pictures, and I should come on down. I found this crowd to be more of a mixed bag than many I've seen.

My Dad has quoted that Thomas Paine to me many times, except he would say "he who governs least governs best."

I look at that GreenPeace sticker and I just think it's remarkable that they dropped about the same artwork on Mt. Rushmore. At least here, they are doing a good job of cross marketing that message from the national stage to the local stage.

All of a sudden all the eyes turned towards the important looking motorcade that was heading for the side entrance of the hotel.

I'm not sure which of the above is more likely to have been taken when Obama was going by.

It was hard to get a good picture of the Octopus. Each of the arms was labeled with a different evil of big insurance. Things like "Bankruptcy" and "Profits for Senate".

Not long after I took these pictures that fancy mortorcade went by, this time going the other way. I was out of film though. I heard a guy on a cell phone behind me tell somebody in an excited voice "I just saw Obama drive by", so I guess I can say the same thing.

On the late news there was a brief item about the event. They said "President Obama came to town today for a million dollar fundraiser." Then they cut to a clip of Obama saying "Hello San Francisco" followed by cheering from an off camera crowd while he waved. I don't think it was the people I spent the afternoon with.
