It turned out that the above were
the counter protesters. A lot of them were carrying signs with black
silhouettes. Those represented individuals that had been killed by the
Israeli military types. The
event they were demonstrating against was across the plaza, with a
significant police presence between them. I went over to check that out.
They were showing off this bus that had been blown up in Israel by a
suicide bomber. They called it Bus 19.
There were piles of other signs
that I didn't photograph. They were trying to make the case that
Palestinian
terrorism inside Israel was THE ISSUE. They said things like "The
bombing must stop."
It was hard for me to get anybody to listen to my little speech. I
finally got one woman to listen, and she suggested I go hang out with
the counter protesters. I took her up on it. I didn't like the vibe
around that bombed out bus.
The counter protesters were more
willing to talk to strangers. One
of them made comments about how bad it was for their image that the bus
bomb people
wanted that "racist homophobic Savage Nation" broadcasting station
there.
