The goal of this Peninsula bike party ride was to go over as many bridges and through as many tunnels as possible. I pulled out my camera when I was surprised to see Thomas at bike party. After that I got a lot of the people that showed up as they showed up.

This was my first ride back from that shoulder injury. I was glad to see my bike riding friends again. Seemed like they were happy to see me to. It felt good.

The in thing seems to be triangular pictures. I didn't ask for it, it just seems like that's the pose they chose.

Wendy was also back from an injury. She had cracked her skull at a ride not long after I hurt my shoulder. She said now she wears a helmet when riding.

Doesn't Wendy have great hair?

The guy with the silver speakers on the boxes bracketing his rear wheel had a great sound system. It added a lot of character to the ride to have his music to follow.

For the brief period when we were rolling down Castro St. we were the entertainment for those around us.

This is the closest I got to a picture of everybody. Andrew said he counted 56 of us, a new record for Peninsula Bike Party! I'm thinking next time we double in size we're going to have to start telling the cities we ride through that we're coming so they don't get surprised.

We paused to watch the rest of the sunset at Shoreline Park by the lake.

We paused briefly on the bike bridge over the railroad tracks to watch a train go under us.

Those double yellow lines are the lights coming out of the train's windows. It was going too fast for my camera to catch any detail in the dark. The bicycles in the next picture were moving MUCH slower.

By this time we were scattered over too wide an area to catch the whole group in one picture. Those at the front of the pack were probably already at the regroup. We still had a bit of pedaling to do.

The suspension cables above us on the Mary St. bridge give it a cathedral like quality. Not sure how that mapped into the soul shine quality of the people imaged here.

The bicycle music festival was a topic of conversation for many. Those in the know would explain that it's a 100% pedal powered event by and for bicyclists. A very creative and interesting show with lots of participatory qualities. For one thing, powering the music on the stage requires a bank of volunteers pedaling generators. Several people decided to go to it after hearing the story.

After leaving the Mary St. bridge those who lived in San Jose and Santa Clara and other southbound areas went their separate way. The rest of us carried on northbound.

Rene and Dora met us at the end. They were coming from a wedding where the champagne had flowed freely. I'm told that they went with Andrew and some others to do another bridge or two, but I missed that party.
