All of a sudden I noticed there was a guy speaking, and everybody was
looking that way. He didn't say much, basically "we're anarchists, and
we don't like what's going on. Lets march!"
They had a couple of big signs to lead
the march with, and they assembled and were carrying them as a
collective activity.
The police presence
was very visible all along the route. It wouldn't surprise me to find
out the policemen outnumbered the anarchists by a large margin. I tried
to ignore them for the most part.
About the time I took
these pictures the cops were starting to exude a nasty vibe. Then the
helecopter overhead started emiting some grainy sounds that could be
construed to be "illegal assembly.... disperse..." Anyhow, I took a few
more pictures and hit the road.
Special thanks to the
woman on a bicycle that took the picture on the right. I was walking
towards the bus stop, and she kept me company on the way. She told me
about having to argue with the cops to get back to University Ave. to
pick up her bike. Neither of us knew how the event was going to turn
out. I found out later it ended peacefully.
