I woke up a bit late
for the first time in a month or so. The previous day I'd walked two
precincts, and I just wasn't ready to do anything major. I decided to
cook myself breakfast. To do that I had to start by cleaning a foot
high stack of paper off the stove. Then I went down to the mobile home
park clubhouse and voted. After that I decided to go around town a take
some pictures of my lawn signs in public places before they all
dissapeared.
All there was in my
mailbox was a few postcards with "forwarding order expired" or "address
unknown" or "incomplete adress" or whatever excuse the post office had
for bouncing them. As I type this, almost a week later, they are still
trickling in. California's voter rolls are famous for having more
expired addresses in them than any other State. I expect to get one
every now and then for a while. Even so, it's a small percentage of the
number of postcards I sent out. I've met many people since mailing
9,100 of them that said "I got your card."
There was also one of
my signs in the window of my favorite Chinese Restaurant, but they were
closed since it was Tuesday. Fred's favorite Mexican place also had
one, but they were too far off for me to want to walk there that day.
There were lots of
other signs out, but these were the signs of friends. Yes on A and
Carol Brouillet for Congress were both campaigns I was hoping would
win. After I took these pictures I had to go home and start getting
ready for my election night party.
