Water was running across the parking lot like a mountain stream...

It wasn't raining, so the source had to be something else.

Turns out that they were replacing a broken section of sidewalk and broke an irrigation pipe that had been used to water the ivy and so forth. The contractor was having trouble finding the valve, but the plumber had been called and they promised to solve the problem as soon as possible. The guy was nervous about me taking pictures until I explained that I had regret about not taking pictures when the fire pipe broke, maybe half a dozen years before. This flood was tiny compared to that one, but still the biggest news to hit the parking lot in a long time. Then he laughed and let me carry on.

A couple of hours later the water wasting had long been stopped. I'm hoping the new section of sidewalk turns out okay. It shouldn't take that long for the ivy to grow back.
